TravelPeP is a travel website run by a small team in India, led by our Chief Editor, Ekant Sharma. This page explains how we research, write, check, and update what we publish, and how we handle money from ads and affiliate links.
What we cover
We publish destination guides, travel planning advice, and guides to food, gear, and travel style. We choose topics by what travellers need to know before they go: how to get there, when to go, what it costs, what the rules are, and what to watch out for.
Where our facts come from
We go to the source that is responsible for each fact:
- Visas, permits, entry rules, and emergency numbers: government sources, such as India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the destination country’s official websites.
- Opening hours, entry fees, and closures: the site or operator itself, such as the Archaeological Survey of India.
- Fares and timetables: the transport operator, such as IRCTC or the airline.
- Weather and climate: the India Meteorological Department or the destination’s own weather service.
- Restaurants and products: the venue’s or manufacturer’s own information. Where we draw on reviews, we rely on a pattern across several independent reviews, never a single one.
We use reputable newspapers and guidebooks as supporting sources and name them. We never treat Wikipedia as a source.
First-hand experience
When we have visited a place or used a product ourselves, we say so and give the date. We never invent a visit, a quote, a review, a reviewer, or a detail presented as seen in person.
Dates and updates
Prices, fees, timetables, and rules change. We state the date on which time-sensitive facts were checked, and guides written or updated under this policy carry an “Information checked on” date. We re-check facts on a schedule:
- Visas, entry rules, travel advisories, and emergency numbers: every time a guide is updated.
- Entry fees, opening hours, fares, and hotel and restaurant prices: at least every six months.
- Product prices: at least every three months.
We are bringing older guides up to this standard as we update them.
Safety and health
Our safety advice is practical and calm. We point readers to official travel advisories, and health or altitude advice always defers to a doctor. We do not prescribe medicines or doses.
Fair criticism
When we criticise a business, venue, or product, we base it on evidence we can show, and we describe what we found rather than make sweeping claims.
Ads, affiliate links, and sponsored content
- Ads: TravelPeP shows ads through Google AdSense. Advertisers have no say in what we write.
- Affiliate links: some articles contain affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Every article with affiliate links says so near the top.
- Sponsored posts, gifted products, and hosted stays: these are clearly labelled. Sponsors do not approve our copy, and a sponsored hotel gets the same scrutiny as any other.
Maps and borders
Our maps and descriptions of India’s borders follow the Survey of India.
Corrections
If you spot an error or something out of date, please tell us through our Contact page. We check every report, correct confirmed errors as quickly as we can, and update the checked date.
